This is Part 2 of a pseudo-correspondence I'm currently having with my mother about the legitimacy of ex-gay ministries. If you haven't already, read Part 1 to get caught up on what's going on.Dumbstruck by the impact of my last emailed attempt to debunk ex-gay ministries, my mother found a rather insulting, trite, and above all cowardly way to respond. One would expect (and I was certainly hoping for) a well thought out email or letter or powerpoint presentation probably citing NARTH, Exodus International, Focus on the Family (in short, The Bible) to try to prove that I'm in a state of gender confusion or that I suck dick cause I miss my mom's breast-milk or that gays are really descendents of Tom Cruise's demon-spawn who traveled back in time to piss on everything she (my mother) holds sacred. The sad truth is that she snuck a 24 page article into my carry-on hoping I'd find it on the plane ride back home (Boston). I didn't and it wasn't until she called me asking if I'd opened my laptop case that I discovered the stow-away red herring. The article is essentially trying to prove that the removal of homosexuality's removal from the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is a political ploy and an indication of the country's submission to the homosexual agenda. Irrelevant. ( my response )Tags: dsm, email, love won out, narth feeling: annoyed
